Criminal

I finally started a new podcast, Criminal. I started with a few episodes but this series is now one of my favorites. The series is produced by three woman who have done there homework. I like this series because the topics are unique and interesting. Also, most are under an hour. I've now become a Phoebe Judge fan.

5 Star Episodes so far:

Episode 51,  Money Tree. Identity theft is not new, but this young lady's experience was not typical.
Episode 125, The less people know about us. This the follow up to episode 51 three years later.

Episode 85, The Manual. Murder case to legal case

Episode 88,89   Story of a woman taking matters into her own hands. Go Girl

Episode 91,92. Story of the first "it"girl Evelyn Nesbit. If you have seen the movie Ragtime, it loosely based on that character. Harvey Weinsteins existed at the time.

Episode 94, The Chase.  This guy has been streaking public events for over 20 years. It's hard not to smile during this podcast.

Episode 100,101  Two part starting with 10,000 feet in the air. When did all the airline security start?

Episode 109, The homewrecker. The downside of social media

Episode 110, Baby Snatcher. Hard to believe stuff like this went on in the US

Episode 111, Silvo Simmons. This podcast is about social injustice, it's out there.

Episode 112, The Mail. Definitely the most twisted

Episode 113, Hostage. This is about the hostage situation that coined the term. I would describe this as "You can make this stuff up".

Episode 117, The Lake. Is this episode social injustice, not sure but I think it brings up a lot of issues that are worth discussing.

Episode 119. How do you get rid of crime and clean up your neighborhood, get a Budda statue. Had a fun time listening to this one.

Episode 123, Mrs. Sherlock Holmes. Story of Ruth Cruger and her investigations. Don't forget this is 1917. It was good, I googled her afterward.

Episode 133, Red hair, Gold car. Wrongful prosecution exists and this is a great example. A real gut punch.

4 Star Episodes:
Episode 115  Strange story of a woman name Cecilia. I had to listen for a bit to get into it.
Episode 116 Part 2 but mostly about legalized sex trade.  Interesting but too one sided.

Episode 106  Linda has a strange request for her handyman. Talk about a whacked woman

Episode 103 Three couples are held hostage by criminals.

Episode 120, The tunnel. Excellent historical piece with the backdrop of racism. Warning, this gets very depressing.

Episode 121, Off leash. Story of "the dog lady of Lansing prison".  Fun to listen too but it has been sanitized a bit. Google for more information.

Episode 128, Deep Breath. This show is a repeat from the 30for30 series, the kidnapping and assault of Keri Swenson. I liked it but no enough for 5 stars

Episode 130, Who's there?. This is a fun episode made of different stories that turned out not to be a crime. The main story about a guy who mysteriously gets his house cleaned will make you think for a while.

Episode 131, Sunset Mesa. Good episode but EHEWWWWW. You've been warned.

Episode 132, Herrin Massacre. Coal mine strike, union and murder in 1922

Episode 64, 420. I really didn't know what 420 meant except it had to do with marijuana. The podcast is not really about stealing signs in Colorado, mostly about the origin of 420. Fun listen

3 Star Episodes:

Episode 71, A bump in the night. A little creepy with somewhat of a happy ending.

Episode 126 A new kind of life. I rated this a 3 because it's soooo weird and twisted. Fortunately, there was no murder and it happened about 90 years ago.
